10 things to do in my 30’s

This summer will mark my thirtieth year on this planet. It’s been an interesting and sometimes hard road. There are times when I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to and didn’t want to make it another day. Yet, here I am so apparently I didn’t want to throw in my towel that bad.

So many people bemoan the absence of their 20’s. I can’t wait to tackle the next decade. Why? Progress.

My twenties were filled with the residual angst of my preteen and teenage years. I was busy floundering around trying to find my place in this world and follow as many of the life rules that everyone tells you that you’re supposed to go by in order to succeed. I wasn’t happy following the rules. I’m happy now that I’ve started coloring outside of the lines.

But now as spring is taking root, I decided to take a look at just some of the things that I wanted to accomplish in my thirties. Without further adieu, here are my 10 things…

1. Travel abroad. This comes with it’s own set of problems (my allergy list being one of the biggest), but I’d love a nice holiday abroad. Ireland and Scotland are ideal, but then I’m also thinking Croatia, maybe?

2. Go on a smoothie diet. I know weird, but I’d like to form the discipline needed to forgo solid food for at least a week.

3. Buy something girly and high-end. My wardrobe is a reflection of my laid back college student-esque lifestyle. I think it’s about time I voluntarily upgrade. I say high-end because I’m cheap, especially with myself. unless it’s techie in nature then I go for broke.

4. Scuba dive. I’m terrified of the ocean and allergic to sand, but I want to be able to say I’ve done it at least once.

5. Go on vacation and do nothing. Yes, nothing. I don’t want to plan and go to this place and that. I want to sleep, relax, and mosey around aimlessly. I’m thinking beachfront hotel with an ocean view. St. Lucia, maybe?

6. Finish writing all of the books in my Gardinian universe. That’s roughly 19 books. I think I can swing it.

7. Skydive. I’ve been saying it for years, but I want to jump out of a perfectly good plane.

8. Buy my motorcycle. I currently am allowed (sometimes begrudgingly) to ride my husband’s baby (Yamaha Warrior, all delicious 1700cc’s worth), but it would be nice to own my own in the next few years.

9. Begin the process of my right arm sleeve tattoo. I don’t imagine this will take ten years, but I’d like to start this summer.

10. Move away from the South. Ideally (on paper and in my mind) this means to Seattle. Something about that place has been calling to me a lot lately.

There you have it. I can’t wait for the next decade to start. Less than four months to go.
