Synopsis:

My Thoughts
Let’s start with the thing that draws me into a book in the first place: the cover. I’m an unrepentant sucker for an intriguing, beautiful cover. I’ve been stuck with some less than quality stories because of a good cover. Lucky for me this cover was wrapped around an equally intriguing book.
Let me just say that I agree with some reviewers who have made the comment that the book starts a little slow. I agree, but the writer in me understands that not all books start with a bang. Some books need a little kindling first before the fire within them starts to roar. I understand that in order for me to understand and identify with the journey Michaela takes, I needed to understand where she started.
As heaven’s General, Michaela is perfect, as are her Heavenly brothers and sisters. Though her job is sometimes made difficult, she makes the hard calls, all the while making sure that no one else has to suffer the consequences of those decisions. As a result of those hard choices, she ends up with a long list of enemies and a dwindling list of those she can count on.
Clark is what I would think of as the epitome of someone created to unreliable. He drinks too much and is tossing away an obligation he was born into. Fortunately for Michaela, Clark is opposite of what I thought he was capable of. his steady friendship never wavers. The fact that he sees Michaela through some of her hardest days is one of the reasons I can’t wait to see where their friendship leads.
Gabriel…I wish I could talk about Gabriel in a way that does him justice. I’m afraid to say what I want because it has spoilers and well…I want you to read it not spoil it for you. I’ll say that I liked the relationship that Michaela and Gabriel had. It was interesting to see that the love they shared was beyond the typical romantic “let’s do the nasty”, but not so dismissive (to some) as a friendly love. As a couple, they are bound, the knowledge of each other spawning from the moment of their creation. Their connection is that deep and yet no sexy time in all the eons that they’ve known each other.
As an unrepentant pervert, I miss the sexy time, but for this story it works. Collett writes in such an engaging way that for those of us who like to wallow in the sin of our favorite fictional characters, it was okay.
Oh and cliffhangers…Missing! Yay! I hate cliffhangers. Some books require them less they be tomes of biblical proportions, but a cliffhanger for the sake of a cliffhanger…yuck. The ending of The Hunted One wraps up this book in a way that makes me want the next one without turning me into a stalking fiend.
